The Way Forward - 2013
Over recent years a great deal of thinking has been going on about the future uses of our village church, both as a centre of regular Christian worship, as an architecturally important historic building and as the largest indoor public space in the village.
You may have read or heard about the meetings of the Friends and the PCC that have taken place. You may have attended the recent meetings. Alongside these formal gatherings, the members of the Friends Committee and the PCC have been canvassing views.
What has come out from all of this has been pretty clear and consistent.
We are now in a position to put to the villagers of Donhead St. Andrew, past and present, an exciting plan which will be of interest and benefit to everyone.
This is of relevance whether or not you are a regular churchgoer, an occasional worshipper or attend only for Christenings, Weddings and Funerals. It also applies irrespective of your own religious beliefs or religious affiliations.
What unites us is that we all love this beautiful village with the church building at its heart which has been here for over a thousand years. Its priests and lay people have served every member of the community, whatever their needs. It has been a focus for family and national celebrations and for times of sadness.
In the past, as the largest public building in the village, it has been used for all types of gatherings, secular and religious.
We want to see it become, once again, more of a centre of village life.
